BOBBI AND THE STRAYS 1st ANNUAL WALK 4 PAWS MAY 2, 2009!
Mark your calenders for the first annual Walk 4 Paws! The Walk will be an exciting event for both people and canines. We will be walking through beautiful Forest Park and the actual walk is about a mile. At the end of the walk, we will have goodie bags, microchipping, contests and much more! Prizes are also awarded to the top individual fundraisers and the top fundraising pack.
You can walk as an individual or as a pack (two or more people) with your dogs on their leashes. Please click the Firstgiving button below and at the top of the Firstgiving page, click "Register for an Event". The cost is $20 per person and all proceeds will go to our Building Fund. Hope to see you there!!!!!

This money helps to defray the costs of food and medical expenses for some of our animals who have been with us for a long time. SPAY & NEUTER INFO!
Each day 10,000 humans are born in the U.S. - and each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born. As long as these birth rates exist, there will never be enough homes for all the animals. As a result, every year 4 to 6 million animals are euthanized because there are no homes for them. **IMPORTANT*** All animals adopted from Bobbi and the Strays are spayed or neutered!
What can you do to stop the suffering?
Spay and neuter your pet! In addition to saving lives, spaying and neutering can also drastically improve your pet's health and life expectancy. The idea that pets become fat or lazy when they are spayed or neutered is a myth. Fixed pets lead healthier, longer lives. Spaying a female eliminates the possibility of uterine and ovarian cancer and greatly reduces the risk of breast cancer. Neutering a male reduces the risk of both prostate enlargement and prostate cancer. Neutering also will make your pet more affectionate and less likely to roam, get in fights, or become lost.
Neutered cats do not spray and mark territory. Spaying a female dog or cat eliminates its heat cycle. Females in heat often cry constantly and show nervous behavior - how cruel! Spayed and neutered pets are less likely to bite !

Volunteering and Donations
Volunteers are always needed to help at our adoption days, transport animals to the vet, and foster our pets until we find homes. We also need volunteers to help with our daily chores - dog walking, cleaning cages, cleaning litter boxes for the kitties, etc.
We need donations of clean towels, dog toys - especially tennis balls or other types of balls for playing fetch - and nylabone chew toys (all sizes, the more durable the better) - our dogs love them, they last long and they really give the dogs something to do, milkbone dog biscuits, air-tight containers to store dry food and stainless steel bowls and cat toys. Last but not least, we can always use Polaroid film - hey a picture of our animals is worth a thousand words!

Most importantly, we need donations to continue our work. The cost of housing a pet until it gets adopted is over $200 per month. Most pets are with us 3-6 months before being placed with a family.
